The IO shield is a small piece of metal that protects tha back of your motherboard form static discharge. It is a very common mistake to place the mother board in the case before installing the shield. To install the shield simply place it in the cut out at the back of your case and firmly pres on diagonal corners. Be careful the shields on cheaper motherboards are sharp enough to draw blood.

depending on the size of mother board you bought this will be different for you. look at your mother board for spaces to stick screws through. line these up with the corresponding holes in your case. Some higher end cases have pre installed standoffs, other wise locate the standoffs in the mother board box and screw them tightly into the case.

Once you have all of the standoff screwed in place your mother board on top so that it carefully lines up with the standoff. locate the screws from the motherboard box and tightly screw the board in. it is best to do this with the case laying on its side so that you are not attempting to hold the mother board in the air while screwing it in.
