So you might wonder why in a world so densely populated by smartphones, tablets, and laptops why the desktop computer even exists anymore. And then when I can just go and buy one from a store why someone ever want to go through the trouble of building their own.
Starting with the first point. Why would you want a bulky non portable desktop computer when a laptop can do everything that you need and more? The answers is likely that you don’t. Truthfully the majority of people do not need a desktop at all, and would be far better suited with a laptop or tablet to do their basic browsing needs. But there are still professions where you simply need more power to get the job done. These include video animation, video editing, running extremely large spread sheets, and data compiling. Every one of these tasks could be accomplished on a laptop, but would take an extraordinary amount of time and produce uncomfortably levels of heat. A desktop provides a more cost effective way of getting more performance, and building it yourself will make it even cheaper.
Outside of needing a work machine a power full desktop can also be a source of pride among pc enthusiasts and gamers. Think of it like a very expensive sports car. You don’t need all of that power but who cares? You want it any way and are willing to pay to money to have that.
